E-Effective Pedagogy

E-Effective Pedagogy (DM2): Teacher candidates can create effective instruction and meaningful assessments for all students based on required subject matter knowledge, state content standards, curriculum goals, and use of technology (TEAC Q.1.2; INTASC 4, 6, 7).

Rationale: I wrote this lesson plan  in my SCED 3720 Reading and Writing in Content Area class Fall 2010. This is one of the lesson plans that I wrote addressing English punctuation and grammar. This paper proves that I have a content knowledge of Standard English and grammar.  The lesson plan is aligned with the state content standards and curriculum goals. The anticipatory set that I used is a fun yet informative clip from you-tube on the function/use of commas. The lesson plan includes a pre and post test to assess learning and group collaboration activities. To correct the group worksheet, I used the classroom Elmo and Smart-board, which indicates my ability to use technology to aid instruction.  My knowledge shows that I am able to meet the needs of teaching an English class.

Rational: This is a unit plan that I wrote for my 4100 Curriculum Instruction and Assessment class Fall 2010.  This is a unit plan on teaching Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. The unit plan is aligned with the state content standards and curriculum goals as well as touching upon enduring understandings and global perspectives. I believe this unit plan will encourage a student to have a more compassionate worldview and increase their understanding of human nature.  My unit plan shows that I am able to create effective instruction and meaningful assessments for all students.
