R-Reflective

R-Reflective (DM5): Teacher candidates will be active learners and reflective practitioners, individually and with their colleagues (TEAC Q.1.3; INTASC 9, 10).

Rational: I wrote this paper on an interview that I conducted with a Special Ed. teacher at a middle school during my EDUC 1010 class Foundations and Introduction to Education. This artifact shows I am willing to work with colleges  and collaborate with them to align classroom instruction for students. I am willing and  able to reflect on my personal experiences and do whatever is necessary to insure the student is successful. This artifact shows that I realize the benefits of being a partner with fellow colleagues in helping the student achieve their full potential.

Rational: This artifact is a case study I did on a student with exceptionalities in my 2400 Multicultural and Exceptionalities class summer of 2010. The student that I did the study on has a hearing impaired and auditory processing deficiency. I interviewed the parent to find out how the schools have accommodated her deficiency, and what services and supports are available for the student to succeed. I learned about  other colleagues and the services that they provide. I also learned that it takes a caring teacher and attentive parent to insure that services are being provided. A student with exceptionalities needs as many advocates as possible. This artifact shows I am willing and able to reflect on my personal experiences and do whatever is necessary to insure the student is successful.
